FAQs
You can apply today by clicking on the big blue ‘APPLY NOW’ button at the top and bottom of this webpage. Be ready to tell us why you want to join us and show us some of your past work.
We know it’s hard getting experience and building amazing portfolios. That’s the whole point of joining WAWC. We’ll just want to see a few pieces of your past work – personal projects and school work are more than okay!
We get a wide variety of requests from our clients. So you could work on anything – whether it be photographing an event, filming a promotional video or creating an animated explainer. Go to the ‘Our Work’ page on our website to see some of our favourite projects.
You’ll be allocated to projects that align with your skill set and availability. It’s very flexible – our Project Leaders will reach out when we have a client request. If you’re too busy to take on the project, that’s okay! BUT if you agree to work with a client, we expect you to see the project through to completion.
For bigger projects, you might be working with other volunteers in a small team! For smaller projects, you might be flying solo. But don’t worry – we can assign you a buddy if you’re not yet comfortable working completely alone.
We expect our content creators to complete a minimum of four projects per year, with each project ranging from 5-10hrs depending on its complexity.
We’re conscious that you’re a student with LOTS of other stuff going on in your life. That’s why we place limits on what clients can ask of you on each project. For example, you’ll never be required to spend more than 3hrs shooting on location.
When you’re not working on projects for our clients, you can dive into an in-house project to share on the WAWC social channels. This could include videos raising awareness around a certain topic, writing blog posts, documenting an event or preparing images and quotes to share. Student volunteers may be assigned to an idea, or they can pitch their own! This is an exciting opportunity to explore your creativity and build new skills.
There are many leadership opportunities available for anyone wanting to develop skills in operations, client relations, project management and growth.
